TERMS & CONDITIONS
H1 Assist — a tool by Enveloped Solutions Limited
Last updated: 22 October 2026
Please read these terms before using h1assist.co.nz or the H1 Assist calculation tool (calc.h1assist.co.nz), together “H1 Assist” or “the tool”. When you create an account you will be asked to confirm that you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy, and we keep a record of the version you accepted. If you use H1 Assist in any other way — for example opening a shared project link — using it still means you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the tool. If you use the tool for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
H1 Assist is provided by Enveloped Solutions Limited (“Enveloped”, “we”, “us”), a New Zealand company.
Part A — What H1 Assist does, and its limits
A calculation aid. H1 Assist helps architects, designers and builders estimate compliance with Building Code clause H1 (Energy efficiency) using the calculation methods in H1/AS1 (6th edition) and H1/AS2 (2nd edition), and produces summaries, specifications and checklists from the information in a project. It is a calculation aid. It is not a consent decision, a certification, or design or professional advice. H1 Assist’s calculations, table reading and document generation run on deterministic software that Enveloped has built and tested — no artificial intelligence reads, interprets or estimates anything in your plans, tables or project. No output (including any RECOMMEND or OPTIMISE suggestion) is a statement or representation by Enveloped that a design or product combination complies with the Building Code. This describes H1 Assist’s own software. The optional paid Concierge service works differently: see Part E.
Not independently certified. Construction R-values use an NZS 4214 parallel-path approximation, slab-on-ground R-values come from the Appendix E tables, and the reference-building values follow the Acceptable Solutions. We compare our results with BRANZ’s own calculation spreadsheets, but results have not been independently certified, and BRANZ, MBIE and building consent authorities do not endorse H1 Assist.
Your information decides the result. Results depend entirely on what is in the project. You are responsible for checking that every area, construction, product, R-value, climate zone and other input is correct and complete and matches the actual plans and specification. We do not verify project information against your plans. Incorrect or incomplete information produces incorrect or unreliable results.
Information read from your tables and schedules. H1 Assist can read the tables, schedules and prior H1 reports you upload and pre-fill project information, such as the council and climate zone, areas, windows, doors and the site address. That reading is automated — matching figures and tags already printed on your own documents, done entirely by H1 Assist’s own software, never by artificial intelligence — and is only a starting point. Where it can’t find a value the tool shows “Unknown” and the result is marked “Incomplete”, which is not a compliance result. H1 Assist does not measure, estimate or guess anything from a drawing: it only reads what is already printed or already entered. You must check and, where necessary, correct everything the tool fills in before relying on it, and you take responsibility for it when you download or use a report.
Product data. Product R-values, catalogue details, defaults and reference tables are provided for convenience, may be out of date or generic, and must be checked against the manufacturer’s current data and the Acceptable Solution.
No prices are disclosed. Enveloped is a distributor, not a retailer, and no product price is shown, published or quoted to you anywhere in H1 Assist. The RECOMMEND feature’s internal search compares estimated product values to find a cost-effective combination that still complies, but that comparison is never shown to you, only the resulting R-values and products are. Any “cost-effective” result is based on Enveloped’s internal estimates, not installed or market prices, and is not a guarantee that a combination is the lowest-cost or most suitable option for your project. Fees for the Concierge service are shown separately (see Part E).
Professional review; consent applications. Output from H1 Assist must be reviewed and approved by a suitably qualified person (such as a registered architect, licensed building practitioner or other appropriately qualified designer) who takes professional responsibility for it before it is relied on for any purpose. Output may be used as supporting information in a building consent application, but only after you have checked it, and by using it you accept full responsibility for it and for how it is used, including in any submission to a council or other authority. It is not a substitute for your own professional work. Responsibility for demonstrating Building Code compliance stays with the designer, builder and consent applicant, not with Enveloped. Output is provided for your use only, and Enveloped accepts no responsibility to anyone else (including your client, the building owner or any council) who sees or relies on it.
No warranty. H1 Assist is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, currency or fitness for a particular purpose, or that any design, output or product combination will comply with the Building Code or be accepted by a building consent authority.
Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Enveloped accepts no liability, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), equity, under statute or otherwise, for any loss or damage (including any building compliance failure, cost, delay or consequential loss, loss of profit or contract, or the cost of remedial building work) arising from your use of, reliance on, or inability to use H1 Assist or any output, report, specification or recommendation it generates, or from errors in information you entered or the tool read from your tables or schedules. If, despite this, we are liable to you, where H1 Assist is provided free of charge our total liability is limited to NZD $100; where you pay fees for it, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim, and for a Concierge request, to the fee you paid for that request.
Indemnity. You indemnify Enveloped against any claim by a third party (including your client, a building owner, a later purchaser or a building consent authority), and any related loss, cost or liability (including reasonable legal costs), to the extent arising from your use of or reliance on H1 Assist or its output, any report, specification or other material you submit or provide to anyone, or your breach of these terms.
Business use; consumer law. H1 Assist is provided for business purposes. You confirm you are using it in trade, not as a consumer. To the extent the law allows, you and we agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply to H1 Assist and that sections 9, 12A and 13 of the Fair Trading Act 1986 do not apply to it, and that this is fair and reasonable. Nothing in these terms limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
The Example project. The shared Example project is for learning only. It is not a real building and must not be used for any real project.
Part B — Accounts and access
Who it is for. H1 Assist is for architects, building designers, builders and other building professionals working on buildings in New Zealand. It is not intended for projects outside New Zealand, or for the general public or anyone under 18.
Approval. We may approve, decline, suspend or end any account at our discretion, including where we reasonably believe the account is held by a competitor, is being used for another purpose than the intended one, or breaches these terms. We may ask you to confirm your identity, organisation or professional registration.
Your login. Keep your login confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account and must tell us promptly of any unauthorised use. Please don’t share access with anyone outside your organisation without checking with us first.
Organisation and team accounts; Enveloped staff access. An organisation’s administrator can see and manage the projects of the designers in their organisation. By joining an organisation you accept that. Enveloped’s own authorised staff may also access account and project data where reasonably necessary to provide you with support, process a Concierge request, investigate suspected misuse, or keep H1 Assist secure — see our Privacy Policy.
Changes and availability. Features, calculations, products and the interface may change, break, be added or be removed at any time. We don’t guarantee H1 Assist will be available at any particular time or free of errors. While H1 Assist is free to use, or while any feature is offered as a trial, we may change or end it at any time.
Feedback. If you give us feedback, suggestions or bug reports, you agree we may use them to improve H1 Assist without obligation or payment to you.
Ending your access, and your saved work. We may suspend, limit or end any account or login at any time, for any reason or none, with or without notice, including where we reasonably believe you have breached these terms or are a competitor, if we stop offering H1 Assist, or if the law requires it. You may stop using H1 Assist and ask us to close your account at any time. When an account ends, or at any other time, we may delete the account and the projects, uploaded files, reports, specifications and other content saved in it, and you may lose access to them permanently, although where practicable we will give you reasonable notice before deleting saved content. H1 Assist is a calculation tool, not a storage or archiving service, so you are responsible for downloading and keeping your own copies of anything you need, and we have no obligation to keep, return or restore saved content. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from an account being suspended, ended or deleted, or from saved content being lost. Part A, Part B clauses 6 and 7, Part C, Part D (as it applies to information we already hold) and Part E (for requests already made) continue after your access ends.
Part C — General terms
Ownership. H1 Assist, including its software, calculation engine, product catalogue and design, is owned by Enveloped Solutions Limited. You keep ownership of the plans, drawings and project information you upload or enter. You give us a licence to store, process, copy and display them as needed to run H1 Assist for you and as set out in Parts D and E and our Privacy Policy. You confirm that you have all rights and consents needed (including from your clients and anyone whose personal information is in your uploads) to give us that licence and for your uploads to be used as described in Parts D and E and our Privacy Policy. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use H1 Assist for your own professional work on New Zealand building projects.
Acceptable use. You agree not to misuse H1 Assist. In particular you must not copy, reproduce, frame or republish it; reverse-engineer it or try to extract its source code, calculation logic or catalogue; use automated tools (such as scraping or bots) to extract data from it; use it or its outputs to build or improve a competing product; resell, sublicense or share your access; remove proprietary notices; upload anything unlawful or that you have no right to upload; or use it in any way that could damage or overburden it.
Enveloped’s commercial interest. H1 Assist is funded and supported by Enveloped, a distributor of Eliment glasswool insulation and other insulation and building products, so the tool is built to favour the ranges Enveloped supplies. RECOMMEND and OPTIMISE search the Eliment range first, and only suggest a non-Eliment product when nothing in the Eliment range achieves a pass on its own; any non-Eliment result is labelled clearly, so it is never mistaken for an Eliment pick. Concierge calculations are prepared primarily with Eliment products where suitable products exist. You are free to specify any compliant product — nothing requires you to use an Enveloped-supplied product. Product names, trade marks and logos belong to their owners and are used for identification only.
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms by posting a new version with a new “last updated” date, and where a change is material we will, where practicable, tell active users directly. Continued use after an update means you accept it.
General. You may not assign your rights without our written consent. We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to any purchaser of, or successor to, H1 Assist. If a provision is unenforceable the rest continue. These terms, the Concierge terms (for Concierge requests) and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about H1 Assist. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
Governing law. These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Contact. Questions about these terms can be sent to h1assist@enveloped.solutions or via the Contact page at h1assist.co.nz.
Part D — Data use and marketing
What we collect. When you use H1 Assist we collect the account, project and contact information you submit, including: the project’s site address; insulation and construction specifications entered for the calculation; files you upload; your organisation’s name, address and logo; your name, phone number and email address; and, if you use Concierge, your billing details and Concierge request records. Our Privacy Policy gives the full list.
How we use it. To provide, support and improve H1 Assist, including testing and checking the accuracy of its automated features against real projects, and including internal review to assess sales and business opportunities — for example, identifying projects or firms specifying insulation near a scale or value where other Enveloped products or services may be relevant. This review is carried out by Enveloped staff for Enveloped’s own commercial purposes.
Automated reading; AI only with your permission. To read the tables, schedules and prior H1 reports you upload, H1 Assist uses its own deterministic software — never artificial intelligence — to match figures, tags and values already printed on your documents. We do not use any AI tool to read, process or interpret your plans, tables or other project information, and we do not share them with any AI provider, unless you have given us permission to do so — for example, to let us use your plans to help us test or develop H1 Assist’s own automated features. Some designers are happy to help this way; you don’t have to, it makes no difference to your use of H1 Assist either way, and you can withdraw permission at any time by telling us. The Concierge service is the exception: if you request it, your plans are measured by our measuring partner, whose software includes AI-assisted processing, as set out in Part E.
Right to remarket, and your right to opt out. By submitting project details through H1 Assist, you agree that Enveloped may contact your organisation about other Enveloped materials, products or services identified as potentially relevant under clause 2, using the contact details you provided. Any such commercial electronic message (email, text or similar) will:
a. clearly identify Enveloped Solutions Limited as the sender;
b. include a functioning, free way to unsubscribe or opt out; and
c. stop within 5 working days once you unsubscribe or ask us (in writing, at any time) not to contact you for marketing purposes,
consistent with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. Opting out of marketing does not affect your ability to keep using H1 Assist or receive service-related communications (for example, about your calculation results or a Concierge request). We do not sell your information, and we do not give your contact details to third parties so they can market to you.
Sharing. A project’s direct link can be opened by anyone who has the link, so treat it like a shared document. If you send a quote request or share project information with a supplier or installer, they receive what you choose to share. You are responsible for who you share a link or project information with, and we are not responsible for access to or use of a project by anyone who obtains a link or information from you.
Privacy Act 2020. Personal information collected through H1 Assist is collected for the purposes in this Part, Part E and our Privacy Policy, is held with reasonable security safeguards, and is disclosed only as the Privacy Policy describes. You may ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it, using the contact details in the Privacy Policy.
Changes. We may update this Part D in the same way as the rest of these terms. Continued use of H1 Assist after an update takes effect means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date and, where practical, notified to active users.
Part E — Concierge service
What it is. Concierge is an optional paid service: we arrange for the plans in a saved project to be professionally measured, enter the take-off into your project, run the calculation and return the project to your account. Each request is also governed by the Concierge terms shown on the Concierge page, which you accept when you make the request, and we record the version you accepted. If they conflict with these terms, the Concierge terms apply to that request.
Our measuring partner. To provide Concierge we share your project’s plans and documents with our measuring partner, a New Zealand quantity surveying firm bound by a written agreement with us covering confidentiality, privacy and security. They store plans in Australia (Google Cloud, Sydney), encrypted in transit and at rest. Their measuring software includes AI-assisted processing by software providers working for them, some of which may happen outside New Zealand and Australia, and a person reviews the results. Our partner is responsible for those providers. Neither they nor their providers may use your plans to train AI models, add them to datasets, or use them for anyone else, and they delete them within 30 days of our asking or of our agreement ending (backups within 90 days).
Your authority. By requesting Concierge you authorise your plans to be handled as described in this Part, and you confirm you are entitled to share them, including any personal information about your clients or others in them, for this purpose.
Review before use. Before the H1 report, specification and site checklist of a returned project unlock, you must review what we entered and accept it. Part A applies in full to everything we return: you remain responsible for checking it, for the design and for compliance.
Payment and refunds. Concierge fees are shown excluding GST and are paid before work starts, by card (processed by Stripe, which issues your GST receipt) or with a coupon code we have issued. Fees are refundable only as the Concierge terms set out.
PRIVACY POLICY
H1 Assist — a tool by Enveloped Solutions Limited
Last updated: 22 October 2026
Enveloped Solutions Limited (“Enveloped”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through h1assist.co.nz and the H1 Assist calculation tool (calc.h1assist.co.nz), why we collect it, who we share it with and how it is handled. It is written to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
1. What we collect
Depending on how you use H1 Assist, we may collect:
Account and contact details you give us — your name, phone number, organisation name and address, email address and organisation logo (for example, when you sign up, are invited into an organisation, or contact us through the website).
Project information you enter into the calculation tool — project name and site address, council and climate zone, window, door and skylight details, wall, roof and floor construction details, the products you choose, and similar building specifications.
Uploaded files — plans, specifications, schedules and other documents you attach to a project. These can contain names, addresses and other personal information of your clients and other people.
Payment and billing details for the Concierge service — your name, email address, billing address and, if you give them, your GST number and NZBN. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
Concierge requests — your instructions and comments, the job’s status and records, and when you accepted the Concierge terms and the returned project.
Messages and feedback you send us, for example through our Contact page.
Usage information — what features are used (for example, that a report was downloaded), so we can understand how the tool is used, and standard non-identifying website analytics (such as page views) collected through our website platform.
Information read from your tables, schedules and prior H1 reports by the tool’s automated reading (see section 4).
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and H1 Assist is not intended for use by anyone under 18.
2. How your information is kept
When you create an account, project details you enter and files you upload are saved to our servers (a database and file storage provided by our hosting providers, see section 5) so you can return to a project later. Projects are kept while your account is open, until you or your organisation deletes them, or until we delete them; when an account is closed or ended, we may delete its projects and files. Deleting a project removes its uploaded files from storage. Information may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion. Storage limits apply per organisation. Concierge job records and tax invoices are kept for at least 7 years, as New Zealand tax law requires, even if the project is deleted.
If you are part of an organisation, the organisation’s administrator can see and manage projects saved by designers in that organisation. Enveloped’s own authorised staff can also access account and project data where reasonably necessary to provide you with support, process a Concierge request, investigate suspected misuse, or keep H1 Assist secure (see section 7). The Example project is shared with all users and contains no real client information.
A project’s direct link can be opened by anyone who has the link. The link is not guessable, but it is not protected by a password, so please share it only with people you trust.
3. Why we collect it
We use this information to:
provide and operate H1 Assist, including saving and retrieving your projects and generating reports, specifications and checklists;
provide the Concierge service if you request it, including sharing your plans with our measuring partner (see sections 4 and 5) and taking payment;
read your tables, schedules and prior H1 reports and pre-fill project information;
respond to enquiries, give support and send service messages;
improve H1 Assist, including testing and checking the accuracy of its automated features against real projects, and using your feedback;
keep H1 Assist secure and prevent misuse;
meet our own legal, tax and accounting obligations; and
assess sales and business opportunities internally. Enveloped may review submitted project data to identify projects or firms where other Enveloped products or services may be relevant, and may contact your organisation about those products or services using the contact details you provided. Any such marketing message will clearly identify Enveloped as the sender, include a free way to opt out, and stop within 5 working days of you asking us to, consistent with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. Opting out of marketing never affects your ability to keep using H1 Assist or to receive service messages about your own projects.
We may also use anonymised, aggregated information that does not identify you or a project (for example usage statistics) for reporting and business purposes.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties, we do not give your contact details to third parties so they can market to you, and we do not run third-party advertising using your information.
4. Automated reading; AI only with your permission
H1 Assist reads the tables, schedules and prior H1 reports you upload using software Enveloped has built and tested — matching figures, tags and values already printed on your documents. No artificial intelligence reads, interprets or estimates anything in your plans, tables or project, and we do not share them with any AI provider, unless you have given us permission to do so (see below). The results of this automated reading are used to pre-fill your project and may be wrong or incomplete, so you must check them (see our Terms, Part A).
We may also use project information and uploaded documents ourselves, in de-identified or limited form where practical, to develop, test and improve H1 Assist’s own automated features, and we may keep real tables or schedules as test material for that purpose. If you ask us not to, we will not keep yours as test material.
Separately, we sometimes use artificial intelligence internally, in our own restricted testing environment, to research and develop possible future automated features. This uses material we have sourced separately for testing, and access is restricted to Enveloped’s own admin accounts. We will only use a customer’s own plans or project information this way, or send them to an AI provider, if that customer has given us written permission to do so — some designers are happy to help this way, others aren’t, and either is fine. You don’t have to agree, it makes no difference to your use of H1 Assist either way, and you can withdraw your permission at any time by telling us.
Concierge. If you request the paid Concierge service, your project’s plans and documents are sent to our measuring partner to be measured. Their measuring software includes AI-assisted processing by software providers working for them, and a person reviews the results. Under our written agreement, neither they nor their providers may use your plans to train AI models, add them to datasets, or use them for anyone else. By requesting Concierge you give us permission for this handling of that request’s plans; it doesn’t extend to anything else in your account.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that help us run H1 Assist, and only what they need:
Vercel — hosting the calculation tool and uploaded files; Neon — the database; Squarespace — the main website.
Resend — sending emails from H1 Assist (for example, sign-in, password reset, quote-request and Concierge emails).
Stripe — card payments and tax invoices for the Concierge service.
Our measuring partner, a New Zealand quantity surveying firm, and the software providers they use — for Concierge requests only. They store plans in Google Cloud’s Sydney data centre (Australia), encrypted in transit and at rest, keep them confidential and secure under a written agreement with us, tell us in writing within 48 hours of any breach affecting them, and delete them within 30 days of our asking or of our agreement ending (backups within 90 days).
Land Information New Zealand and Statistics New Zealand — council lookup: when you use it, the site address you entered is sent to these services to find the territorial authority.
Suppliers and installers you choose — if you send a quote request or share a project, they receive what you choose to share.
Others only where the law requires it, for example to a court or regulator.
Some of these providers process information outside New Zealand: our hosting, email and payment providers in the United States and other countries; our measuring partner in Australia; and, for Concierge requests, its AI and software providers, which may be in other countries. We only send information overseas for the purposes described in this policy. We use providers that are subject to privacy safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020, or bind them by contract to protect it, and for Concierge requests we also rely on your authorisation when you make the request.
We don’t otherwise share your personal information with third parties.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our main website (h1assist.co.nz) uses standard analytics cookies provided by our website platform to understand visitor numbers and page views. The calculation tool (calc.h1assist.co.nz) uses a cookie to keep you signed in, and does not use advertising cookies. Stripe’s payment pages, used only when you pay for Concierge, use Stripe’s own cookies for payment security.
7. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect information handled by H1 Assist. H1 Assist runs on Vercel, with your tables, specifications and saved results held in a Postgres database (via Neon), and any files you upload — plans, specifications, logos — stored separately in Vercel Blob. Every file is kept in private storage: it has no public URL, and can only be retrieved through H1 Assist’s own authenticated server, never accessed directly. Files and database records are both encrypted at rest with AES-256, and every connection — to the app, and from the app to its database — runs over TLS-encrypted HTTPS. Card details are entered on Stripe’s own payment pages and never reach H1 Assist.
Only your organisation’s account, and Enveloped’s own authorised staff where reasonably necessary (see section 2), can reach your data: each project belongs to one authenticated user, and new organisations are reviewed before they get access at all. For Concierge requests, our measuring partner also holds the plans for that request, under the safeguards in section 5. We don’t claim our own security certification, but the infrastructure underneath H1 Assist runs on providers independently audited to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 standards.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and our own practices have not been independently certified, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please don’t upload highly sensitive or confidential information beyond what is needed for a calculation. If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Privacy Commissioner and affected people as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.
8. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. You may also ask us at any time not to contact you for marketing (see section 3) without affecting your use of the tool, and you can ask us to delete your account and projects (subject to the records we must keep for tax purposes, see section 2). To do any of this, contact us at h1assist@enveloped.solutions. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as H1 Assist develops. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent version, and where practical we’ll tell active users directly about any material change. This update adds the optional paid Concierge service: what we collect for it, card payments through Stripe, sharing plans with our measuring partner (including storage in Australia and AI-assisted processing that may happen overseas, under no-training and deletion commitments), and keeping Concierge records and invoices for tax purposes.
10. Contact us
Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to h1assist@enveloped.solutions or via the Contact page at h1assist.co.nz.
Both documents above are complete and ready to paste over the old ones. I made a few other small fixes along the way:
Liability cap: a Concierge claim is now capped at the fee for that job, matching the in-app Concierge terms.
Tax records: account deletion now carves out the records you must keep for tax.
Stripe cookies: now mentioned in the cookies section.
Concierge brand: the commercial-interest clause now says Concierge calculations use Eliment products where suitable.
The in-app Concierge terms (version 2026-10-22) are committed and ready to push. Have counsel look over the new Part E and section 5 before you publish. I’ll keep the privacy policy reminder open until you tell me it’s live.
